JR at about the 3km mark of a 10k Time Trial on Saturday - I was able to time, and take some video for the Scholastica College guys on my rest week
The middle of summer is here and I can feel it not only by the high temperatures humidity, but by the hours of training that go along with it. Yesterday I arrived with the CXC team in Marquette, a lake town on Michigan's Upper Peninsula and home to the Northern Michigan University where we are basing our training this week. It is cool to see Marquette in the summer, as I have been here many times in the windy and damp winter. I first came to Marquette in January 2008 and have good memories racing here through my college career with Alaska.
Summer means rollerskiing and lots of double poling
Racing in Marquette ~February 2010
First ski races are 3.5 months away! Picture from Grant Abbott in the 50k skate at Nationals last year
This week I am scheduled to train 25hrs which will be the highest volume week of the summer and probably the highest I have ever done. I will keep you posted on how it turns out
