I just wrapped the last 2 races of my 3 week roadtrip in
Rossland with a pair of skate races. Both went better than the weekend before
and I seem to be racing progressively better this season. Saturday’s
skate sprint went quite well. Despite having a mediocre qualifier. l I managed to finish 4th in my quarter final--only a couple seconds from
the leader. The race was a step in the right direction, but I feel I still
need to work on my top speed over Christmas to find my sprinting groove.
Sunday’s 15k Mass Start Skate went wel.. I finished 12th
overall in the competitive open men’s division. I paced my race quite well and
felt for the first time this season that I was able to really bear down and
exert myself. I slowly moved up the field from about 20th to put
myself in position for a top 15. After catching a few faders, I finished 12th
and about 1:20 back from race winner Kevin Sandau. So far my Noram finishes this year have been 23rd, 17th, 22nd, 12th.

Big Thanks to Jonathon Kerr, Amanda Deuling and Alain Masson
for the great skis and race support! Now we are enroute home to Whitehorse for a 3
week break in the racing schedule. I am looking forward to a nice training
block at home to prepare for some big races down the stretch!
